Pumpkin Spice Syrup is the road to the best Pumpkin Spice Latte
From all the things that made it over the pond in recent years, pumpkin spice syrup en route for pumpkin spice latte is one of my favorite though. Those who’ve been around for some time know that I love spices in my cakes, in my cookies and in my drinks.
I’ve had my fair share of pumpkin spice lattes these last years and every single time I loved the drink, it was one with the syrup. So what makes it so different from those who just use the spice blend. It’s the pumpkin! Pumpkin spice is the spice mixture you’d expect in a pumpkin spice latte, but the syrup actually contains real pumpkin.
And here’s the thing: you’re most probably not going to taste the raw flavour of pumpkin, but the pumpkin purée in the syrup is the glue to the sweeteners and the spices and it give the whole thing an unctuous creaminess that is really amazing. But don’t worry, once the drink is prepared, you won’t notice a much more voluminous texture.
So here we are, in the middle of autumn, and I’m sharing my result with you. I’ve worked A LOT on the perfect ratio and I am so happy with the result. The brown sugar adds a warm caramel like flavour, whilst the white sugar adds sweetness without adding extra flavour, letting the spices shine through just like they should. Together they give the perfect autumnal flavours without being too much like molasses. And that’s exactly what you’ll want in a recipe.
